The South African finished the game with figures of 33/1 in his four overs. He overcame Sunil Narine’s record to become the fastest bowler to 50 IPL wickets.

Sunil Narine – 32 matches:

Narine is one of the finest T20 cricketers around. The spinner took his 50th IPL wicket in his 32nd match. Playing against Mumbai Indians in the 2014 season, Narine, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, removed Michael Hussey to reach the milestone. He is the quickest among spinners to get to 50 wickets in IPL.

Lasith Malinga – 33 matches:



Before Narine,  Mumbai Indians’ Lasith Malinga held the fastest to 50 IPL wickets record. It took the former Sri Lankan pacer 33 matches to clinch 50 wickets in the IPL. Malinga achieved the feat against Rajasthan Royals in the 2011 season. He dismissed Shane Watson to clinch his 50th IPL wicket. The legendary cricketer retired from IPL with 170 wickets to his name.

 Khaleel Ahmed – 35 matches:


Khaleel, playing for Delhi Capitals, became the fastest Indian bowler to get to 50 IPL wickets and fourth overall during the IPL 2023 match against Lucknow Super Giants in Ekana Stadium. The left-arm pacer, who made his IPL debut in 2018, overtook Amit Mishra as the fastest Indian to reach 50 IPL wickets after removing Nicholas Pooran.

Imran Tahir – 35 matches:


The veteran spinner from South Africa, Tahir, is the joint fourth-fastest to 50 IPL wickets. He reached the milestone during the Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, match in the 2018 season. Tahir dismissed Aaron Finch for a duck to get to his IPL milestone. At 45, Tahir is still playing in T20 leagues across the world.
